How to Nurse Your Baby Successfully

What to eat while nursing

On my first child, I was not sure if I could nurse my baby successfully.

It seemed as if I was robbed of everything I loved to eat. No peppers, onions, broccoli, someone even told me no cucumbers. For three months this went on and for three months I had the worst colicky baby you ever saw!
We were introduced to the blood type diet shortly after the birth of our second child. It made all the difference in the world.
Since that time I have found that I can eat all the peppers, onions, broccoli, and even hot peppers that I want and it does not affect the baby. However, if I eat a whole wheat product that baby is sure to start screaming.
As I mentioned before, I’m a blood type O. As an O, I’m able to eat most vegetables, the fruits that I most enjoy, and lots of meat. Wheat products are not digested by my body therefore it makes my milk also indigestible. It gives the baby extreme pain because you’re feeding him a product that his body can’t break down.
Not too long ago, I did hear of a blood type A mother who had to take out certain foods from her diet because her blood type O baby wasn’t nursing successfully in getting the right nutrition. This surprised me. But when explained, made sense.
Many blood type A’s have low levels of acid making it harder for them to digest things such as meat. Most do better on moderate amount of grains, lots of vegetables, fruits, and light protein like poultry or seafood.
This particular baby had such an aversion to grains, being that he was an O, that this mom had to take them out of her diet because being an A with poor digestion her milk was coming through indigestible.
My sister, blood type O, had a blood type A baby. He was extremely fussy and several times a day would scream in pain. She began eating according to her blood type but he was still in pain. As he was going on four months, a month past the typical colic stage, I explained to my husband what was going on. A blood type A himself he said, “Oh, he needs acidophilus.”
Acidophilus is found in yogurt.  It’s good bacteria that your body needs in order to digest food and stay healthy. So my sister began fixing him a small bottle with diluted juice (100% real) and acidophilus. It did the trick. So there are a few methods of dealing with colic so neither the baby nor you have to suffer.

Successful nursing brings numerous benefits

First, nursing is far healthier than formula. A formula fed baby has nasty diapers. Their spit-up stinks and any excretions stain your clothes.
When a nursed baby spits up, it’s just milk. It doesn’t stain. If their diaper leaks, no problem. Simply wash as normal and hang in the sunshine while the article is still wet. The sun will bleach it out.
You can successfully eliminate colds and other infant sicknesses while nursing. When the baby starts to get sick I begin taking vitamin C in multiples of 500mg. There’s no specific amount. I simply take it as I feel the need.

And, there’s no getting up in the middle of the night to warm a bottle. Which leads me to…

Where does the baby sleep?

On our first child we had a beautiful cherry wood crib. It was lined with mint green bumper pads, and inside lay the pinwheel quilt which I had made and quilted by hand. However, when our little bundle arrived he didn’t find it all inviting.

He hated that crib! I’d nurse him and when he was asleep put him in the crib. Within 15 minutes he’d be awake and crying. I’d take him back to bed with me, lie down, nurse and half the time I’d wake up hours later with him still beside me.
This felt right to me, but everything that I’d heard said the opposite.  Not to let them in bed with you because you’ll never get them out of your room. This is not true. Our four oldest children have their own beds and our little three year old is doing very well at transitioning to sleeping with her sisters.
While I was struggling to decide what to do with our first child, a newsletter came in the mail. At that time there was a lady who had 9 children and she put out bimonthly newsletters at a very reasonable price. The majority of her advice was very beneficial to me and timely.
She pretty much gave me the permission I needed to allow my newborn to sleep with me. This not only gave me peace of mind but it allowed all three of us to sleep. I’m forever grateful to a husband who had always been open-minded to change. Some husbands become very upset thinking about a baby entering their domain.
So not only do I not need to get up in the middle of the night to warm a bottle I don’t need to get up at all! I afford myself the luxury of sleeping as much as I can.

Get Rid of Squash Bugs Naturally

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Here’s a recipe of how to get rid of squash bugs naturally and organically. My wife discovered this concoction when experimenting on pests that were destroying her winter and summer squash plants. We also found this to be a safe pesticide for Japanese beetles.

Ingredients (you can grow all these yourself):

Handful of Marigold flowers (plant these around your squash patch, too)

Dozen Tansy leaves (the tansy herb also drives ants away from your home if planted in the landscaping)

Six garlic cloves (plant these near your plants as well)

Four hot peppers (jalapeño, chili, cayenne)

Instructions:

Put these items in a cooking pot

Cover with water

Bring to boil, let simmer for 30 minutes

Should yield about 4 cups

Strain two cups of cooled broth into a garden sprayer and fill with water up to the gallon mark. We add a teaspoon of Basic H as well to make the mixture more effective and longer lasting. Just Basic H alone in water is a safe pesticide for Japanese beetles.

How to use this natural, organic pesticide in the garden

Spray this in the evening when the squash flowers are closed so you do not harm or drive away the pollinating bees. You will see how effective this is in getting rid of squash bugs naturally and organically when you water in the morning. Flood the area around the base of the plant with water and if any squash vine borers are present, they will come up out of the ground beside the stem of the plant.

Make your job easier by looking under the leaves for squash bug eggs. They lay in a row and the eggs enlarge before they hatch (about two weeks). Cut these leaves off and burn them. If your plant cannot bear to lose another leaf, then spray the eggs and it should kill them before they hatch.

Be careful with how much hot pepper you use. We tried powdered cayenne pepper and it burnt holes in the leaves! Now that you know how to get rid of squash bugs organically and naturally, use it as a safe pesticide for Japanese beetles, cabbage worms, other pests. Try this concoction on anything that bugs you!

Parasite Cleanse to Help Fight Cancer

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

It has been a while since we did an update on my wife’s uncle’s cancer. He had been diagnosed with liver cancer last year. He got on the bloodtype/genotype diet prescribed by Dr. D’Adamo and did very well with that. Then, when his sister who was helping him had to leave for a month on a missions trip, his health faltered. Discouraged, he slacked off the nutritional routine prescribed by the naturopathic doctor at D’Dadamo’s clinic. Soon he had to get fluid removed from his lungs. The oncologist told him to make the best of his last few days. She said this would end with him drowning in his own fluids.

It had been very hard for him to adjust his eating habits, having lived on fast food and what I would call junk food his whole life. He did well as long as he saw dramatic results, but then he fell back to familiar territory with his eating habits. We looked for another way to help him out.

I had been to a naturopath who used Rife technology and concepts from Dr. Hulda Clark’s research. The family looked into this information which consists mainly of parasite cleanses. They bought an electronic zapper that helps kill off parasites, which cause cancer. In addition to doing these daily zap therapy sessions, Uncle took the herbal parasite cleanse regimen.

The day he started this program he noticed a difference in his breathing. He began to eat more (he had lost weight and strength). Within a few weeks he was his old self again, working outside and gaining weight. Now he is just taking the maintenance dose of the herbal cleanse program once a week for a year and doing frequent zappings.

In another post, I will discuss the zapper further. Around 80% of Americans have parasites such as the liver fluke. Clark says these parasites can cause cancer, Alzheimer’s, irritable bowel syndrome, and a host of other complications depending on where they lodge in your body. Here’s the parasite cleanse:

How to Kick Strep Throat

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Now's Castor Oil 16ozFor strep throat remedies, we use Children’s Advil and castor oil compresses. We also use natural remedies including vitamin C, A, and D. Proberry also works wonders against the flu and other ailments.

My experience with strep

I once got strep throat so bad the inside of my whole mouth swelled up. My tongue got so thick my teeth left indents on it. My tonsils and throat swelled until I could hardly breathe. My uvula swelled until I was choking on it.

I had to go to the doctor for that one and take amoxicillin. We did not know then (eleven years ago) the strep throat remedies we know now. I have had a few bouts with strep since and have won.

We do not want you to think we are giving anyone medical advice. We only want to share what we found works best and safest for our family. Since children ages 5-15 often get this during the winter months, be ready.

Signs and symptoms of strep throat

Recently, my son had complained of a sore throat. In cold dry air, sore throats can come and go. When he started complaining more and breathing funny, however, I knew we were in for a ride.

Strep throat can begin with pain or difficulty in swallowing. It might also include a slight fever and other cold-like symptoms. In the reddened throat, you might see white patches if it has advanced.

Strep throat can continue to grow and swell the throat lining and tonsils. Oversized tonsils and lymph nodes may cause an earache. It can morph into tonsillitis and even lead to heart problems.

Why we avoid antibiotics

When I took the amoxicillin for a strep throat remedy, it killed my immune system. I kept catching every bug that winter, and the strep throat kept trying to come back. Like most of traditional medicine, it fights the disease with little concern for the human’s well-being. I would rather struggle through an illness and come out with a strong immune system, than to compromise my overall health.

Treating the symptoms

When my son’s throat started hurting when he swallowed, I got scared. I remembered what I had gone through and did not want him to. In prayer, God reminded me the doctor had given me Children’s Advil to help me swallow.

Our midwife (a continual source of health advice) told me strep would only last four to five days. We just had to make him comfortable until he got through it. The Children’s Liquid Advil did the trick to help him swallow and sleep soundly.

You should not give Advil (ibuprofen) for more than two days. We switched him to liquid Tylenol which worked as well. However, the Advil lasted longer and targeted the pain better. Also, Tylenol (acetaminophen) accumulates in the liver quickly. We switched back to Advil after a day on Tylenol—much to his appreciation.

Instead of giving the whole dose, which lasts for 6-8 hours, we gave partial doses. We kept the dose as small as possible and gave it every 2 hours or so.

Why we use castor oil

Our midwife suggested castor oil compresses and we found this to be a miracle among strep throat remedies. We rubbed castor oil on his neck and then placed a warm washcloth, soaked in castor oil, in the same area. Then we put a heat pad on it and kept it warm for at least an hour.

As soon as we started the castor oil treatment, he started spitting out all kinds of phlegm. We did this for two to three times a day. The more mucus he expelled the more the lymph nodes shrunk and pain left.

Some people say apple cider vinegar works this way, too, as one of their strep throat remedies. It never worked for me (remember, I had to see a doctor). I wish I could patent the idea of these castor oil compresses, they draw out infection and even help with cancer.

Target the throat

People recommend doing mouthwashes for strep, so we did. Gargling with Lysterine (the kind with four anti-microbes in it) supposedly kills surface germs. At our midwife’s suggestion, we added a few drops of grapefruit complex to each mouthful.

A pharmacist also told me to keep the saliva flowing. This helps sooth the throat which gets dry quickly and helps kill the germs (you have naturally antiseptic saliva). Instead of giving a child sugary throat drops (which can feed bacteria), we let them suck on a chewable vitamin c. This is a good sore throat remedy as it keeps saliva flowing and boosts immunity at the same time.

Boosting the Immune system

To help our son’s body heal, we gave him as much vitamin C as he could take. You know you have too much vitamin C when it gives you the runs. If you intend to take medicinal doses of vitamin C with your strep throat remedies, we have found calcium ascorbate to be the easiest to digest.

Another immune booster we use is ARA6. This product has the healing power of aloe, but ten times more powerful. You will find it an effective health boost for any condition.

We also use a powerful form of elderberry extract called Proberry. If we had this on hand when the strep started going around, my son probably would not have gotten sick. This stuff kicks the flu and other bugs quickly.

We use natural antibiotics including olive leaf extract, grapefruit complex, garlic oil, and oregano. We followed these with acidophilus to rebuild his healthy bacteria. We also used vitamin E oil, omega 3 oil, and vitamins A and D3 to keep the immune system strong.

Change the diet

If you are fighting any disease, you should cut out all corn products, wheat products (white flower, pasta), dairy, pork, and instant/prepared foods from the diet. This is not medical advice—it is just good sense. Good strep throat remedies will not help if you eat junk. Do not eat sugar or imitation products.

Focus on organic fruits and vegetables. During the worst part of strep, you may only want to sip fruit juices and homemade soup (not from a can) with real broth and vegetables. Make sure you drink plenty of water to flush out toxins (some say scarlet fever results from toxic secretions by strep bacteria).

We are not attempting to tell anyone medical advice for treating strep throat; we are just letting you know what strep throat remedies worked for us.
